Hi! I’m Xin Yue. I live in Chengdu with my parents and grandparents. I’m mostly cared for by my grandparents. My parents work at a massage parlor and live in a staff dormitory because our apartment is very small.

Our family’s situation is different from most Hope Station families: I don’t have any disabilities, but both my mom and dad are visually impaired. I have severe astigmatism. My vision has been getting worse every year. We have tried many ways to treat my eyes, but doctors say my condition is hereditary and can only be slowed down. I know that one day, the world around me may become blurry, but I’m not afraid.

If you sponsor my family, I can get checked by vision specialists, and have regular eye check ups! My family and I will get home visits every month from the Hope Station staff, and they will support and encourage my parents as they raise me. My whole family will get the relational and practical support they really need to make sure our family can stay together forever!

Hi, I’m Chun Juan! I’m 7 years old, and I was diagnosed with autism when I started 1st grade. I live with my mom, dad, and younger brother in Chengdu. My mom stays home to take care of our family, and my dad is the only one working.

I really enjoy reading and playing with mechanical and spatial toys, and I’m very interested in machines. But at school, I am often misunderstood, and I sometimes face rejection from teachers and classmates because I have a hard time with social interaction and managing my emotions. My school has even suggested that I stop school for a while.

My mom hopes that with therapy, I will be able to adjust better at school and keep up with my classmates.

Hi, I’m Yu Yang! I’m 6 years old, and I was diagnosed with autism and a congenital defect that I had to have surgery for. My mom stays home to take care of me. My dad is the only one working. I have to get several types of therapy and do my best to keep up with my peers. Some of my sessions are covered by a government subsidy, but my dad has to work really hard to cover the rest and it’s been really hard.

My parents hopes that with therapy, I will be able to adjust better at school and keep up with my classmates.

Hi! I’m JunJie. I live with my mom, dad, older brother, and grandma. I go to a special needs school, but I also need therapy every week. My mom is my biggest hero, and she loves me so much. It’s hard for her to take care of me sometimes though, because many people do not accept me the way I am. I love dancing and listening to music, but the local dance schools won’t let me enroll in dance class because I have Down Syndrome.

Hi! I’m Hao Hao. I have a mom, dad, and grandparents. My parents live in the countryside, but my grandma and I live in the big city of Chengdu, because that’s where I can get the medical support and therapy that I need. I have Cerebral Palsy, which affects my muscle tone throughout my whole body. Even though I am 5 years old already, I can’t sit up on my own. My mama hates being far away from me, but my dad has had a hard time accepting my diagnosis and the impact it has on our family. Thankfully, my grandma is very loving and affectionate and takes care of me the best she can. But she is alone, so I know that the daily struggle is hard for her.

Hi! I’m Jing An. When I was little, I was diagnosed with Autism. I have a loving mom and dad, but my mom took me away from our hometown to live in the big city so I could get the therapy I need. My dad had to stay in our hometown so he could work to support our family. My parents both have a hard time imagining my future, and they are desperate for me to get as much therapy as I can. They hope I can have a bright and promising future.

If you sponsor my family, I will get therapy every week at the therapy center, and additional therapy support from the Hope Station staff team. My mom and I will get home visits every month. Hope Station staff will teach my parents more about my disability, and give them the encouragement and support they need to take care of me!

DOES MY MONTHLY GIFT GO DIRECTLY TO MY SPONSORED FAMILY?

Yes! Your monthly gift is assigned to cover support services specifically for your sponsored family. When a vulnerable family applies for sponsorship, our staff work with them to write a service plan that is uniquely designed to help their child and family. We use the funds you send in each month to carry out that plan for your sponsored family.

CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH MY SPONSORED FAMILY?

Of course! Exchanging letters with your sponsored family helps them feel even more loved and supported. Instructions about how to communicate back and forth with your sponsored family will be included in your welcome packet. All correspondence is done electronically.

We’ll also notify you before the sponsored child’s birthday and any upcoming holidays, in case you would like to send a special message or send a special gift.

You are not required to write to your sponsored family. You will get monthly updates from them no matter what. However, we hope you will take this opportunity to encourage them!

HOW LONG IS MY SPONSORSHIP COMMITMENT?

Family sponsorship is a voluntary, ongoing contribution. You decide how long you’re able to help.

HOW DO I UPDATE, CANCEL, OR PAUSE MY SPONSORSHIP?

To update your sponsorship amount, info, or giving method, look for a link in your email receipt. At that link, you can update your giving method and card info, edit the amount or frequency of your gift, pause your gift for however much time you choose, or cancel your gift completely.

DO OTHERS SPONSOR THE SAME FAMILY?

Each sponsored family can have up to 4 sponsors, OR $160 in monthly sponsorship coverage. This enables each family to access full support services. If you are one of multiple sponsors for your sponsored family, you will still get monthly updates from the family as usual, and you can send replies as often as you like.
