Hope Station Is Now a Registered NGO In China

We are honored to announce that Hope Station is now a registered NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Sichuan province, China.

This is a major upgrade for our organization in China!

Rebekah (Founder/Director) and Margarete (Director of China Operations) were told countless times that registering as an NGO would be very difficult, if not impossible.

About a year ago, Margarete connected with a lawyer who shared about a new policy change that made it possible to register as an NGO. Our application was submitted late 2021, and approved early 2022!

Part of our Hope Station team in China: Jade (therapist), Margarete (Director of China Operations), Erica (Family Strengthening Program Manager)

Why is this such a big deal?

As an NGO, Hope Station is better positioned to:

  • Collaborate with local organizations like orphanages, therapy centers, and more
  • Partner with local leaders to improve services for children with special needs and their families
  • Raise funds locally
  • Increase awareness in the community about the needs of children with disabilities, and create opportunities to take action

Will anything change now that Hope Station is an NGO?

Our team continues to provide quality care and services to children with special needs and their families. Home visits, therapy sessions, encouragement, activity days, it all continues under this new banner.

As a new entity, we also have a new Chinese name:

与你童行 means Together for Children. It couldn’t be more fitting for this new season we are stepping into!

We truly believe that a China without orphans is possible. And we cannot get there alone. It takes program managers, therapists, parents, aunties and uncles, school teachers, community leaders, and more.

Helen Keller wisely said: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” With our NGO registration in hand, we are excited to work more closely with the local community to improve the lives of children with special needs.

So let’s do this. Together.
